Hi there
Welcome to your fortnightly dose of the future and technology, brought to you by yours truly, Dan Sodergren.
As a futurist, AI enthusiast, and someone who's deeply invested in the future of work, I find it essential to keep you updated and excited about AI's transformative power.
Power to the people…
Let's kick off with an intriguing development in AI legislation as the European Union passes the AI Act 1.
This milestone in AI regulation sets the stage for safe, ethical usage of AI, reminding us of the crucial role of governance in our AI-driven future.
Speaking of ethical AI usage, Elon Musk's recent legal case against Open AI 2 drives home the importance of AI ethics.
It sparks crucial conversations around AI's potential and the need to harness it positively. But who is Elon to say what is ethical?
He may be amazing at getting himself and his company into space. But is he helping us back on Earth with his treatment of his technology Twitter, apols, X…
Let’s see if he really does open up his new AI chatbot called Grok and make it open source. He says he will but he says a lot of things*.
The whole thing feels like a game to me.
Gaming power…
On a lighter note, for the gamers among us, Google Deepmind has introduced an AI co-op companion for video games 3. This AI learns your gaming style and works in tandem with you, taking gaming interaction and immersion to new heights.
Also interestingly this has much bigger implications as your AI companion in the game - is acting not like a game player or character but like a human playing a game.
The fact, it can learn this and act like a co player - or co worker. Is worth thinking about. As is in the realm of co-piloting, Microsoft's Copilot has been upgraded to GPT-4 Turbo 4.
This update is a game-changer, providing developers with advanced capabilities, making coding more efficient and accessible. But also spilling into different industries.
AI power…
This notion of accessibility resonates with Anthropic's recent release - Claude 3 Haiku, an AI model built for speed and affordability 5. It's a testament to AI becoming more accessible, thereby democratizing its benefits. But the key metric being it is beating all over AI in many benchmarks for success. Making it cheaper and better…. Which is kinda unheard of with technology.
Another unheard of, and showing how far AI has come, In the financial industry, Morgan Stanley has appointed Jeff McMillan as the new head of Artificial Intelligence 6. This appointment underscores the increasing role of AI in finance, an industry where precision and efficiency are paramount. If AI is coming for finance - it will come for everything. Perhaps even politics…
Processing and Political power…
Perhaps why Europe is passing the AI act, on combating misinformation, AI models like ChatGPT are being employed to detect disinformation 7, reaffirming AI's potential in protecting democratic processes. But also interestingly, who polices the police on this one..
Perhaps the police in the end will be those that make the chips. So it is worth taking a virtual trip to NVIDIA's GTC 2024 8. This conference unites brilliant minds worldwide to discuss AI advancements and their potential to revolutionise various industries.
With chip makers moving into computers and now into AI as well - the world of technology is growing bigger and bigger and the boundaries between players are getting blurred.
One thing that is clear is that you will need to use AI to get ahead in the world of tomorrow. So finally, I invite you to explore my AI Marketing Course 9.
As someone passionate about AI and marketing, I've designed this course to empower entrepreneurs like you with the knowledge and tools to leverage AI effectively.
I am also going to launch a new course about AI.
And I want you to vote for which one.
YOU HAVE THE POWER.
Time to create a new product from everything I have learnt from and with #AI in the last year so which one would you pay for the most?
Vote on the poll here - or on LinkedIn.
It’s up to you.
If something different that you know I can make for you.
Then pop your suggestion in an email to me. .
Yours sincerely,
Dan Sodergren
